Santisima Trinidad, which means Holiest Trinity, is strategically located
in Ensanche Ozama, an older neighborhood in eastern Santo Domingo, a metropolitan area of
over three million persons. Santisima Trinidad was founded by Fr. Cruz Mendez on Jan. 1, 1993. With help from the United Thank Offer in 1997, the Dominican Episcopal Church purchased a large two story house with high ceilings to be converted to a church. To provide adequate worship space some walls were eliminated and rooms opened up. |
| Over the past two-and-one-half years the Venice Deanery has worked with the Santisima Trinidad congregation, helping convert the house into a church, a preschool, and an adult learning center. The final step was taken this summer when two teams went down to help finish the second floor multi-use community center (parish hall) and learning center. Earlier the deanery had provided the funds to build the 1380 sq. ft. addition, plus the remodeling of the second floor bedrooms into classrooms. | ![]()

One of the classrooms is to be the computer learning center. Computer training is one of the best ways people can improve their job prospects in the Dominican Republic. The second team build computer desks that hang from the wal, and now the computers must be purchased for the computer lab. The lab can hold ten computers, which will be connected as a network, with one server. Each computer will have a UPS battery backup and voltage regulater unit. The lab will also have a scanner, printer, air conditioning unit and an inverter to run the computers and lights during frequent power outages. The total budget is $12,000 |
